Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS 2018)

Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit or ESGS is one of the biggest gaming conventions in Southeast Asia. It was my first time to attend the event and it was a blast! I am used to attending Cosplay and Anime conventions but ESGS is something new to me. A lot was going on (more than I’m used to but it was hella fun) which includes gaming competition/exhibition and video game and product exhibitions. Every turn, there is always something interesting to see.

ESGS 2018 Quest Rewarded fans with amazing prizes from their sponsors. I didn’t join the quest (mainly because I was busy with something else lol) but it’s great to see that ESGS made a way for everyone with or without smart phones to join the quest.

There were a lot of tournaments going on and E-Sports fans cheered for their favorite teams. Spectators enjoyed the game more because of the commentaries by our local E-Sports Shoutcasters. As Caster Riku once said on one of her videos: “Can you imagine a game without shoutcasters?” *insert cricket sounds here*

Fans were given the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite E-Sports teams who represented the Philippines in International E-Sport Games.

The new Filipino-made anime TV series Barangay 143’s booth provided fun to the attendees as they played Perya games and claimed interesting prizes.

This anime television series premiered last October 21, 2018 and airs every Sunday on the GMA Network.

The highlight of my day was the Indie Games booths. I enjoyed playing game demos and most especially liked the card games. We were supposed to have a booth there too for the game we are developing Memoirs: The Lost Fragments with our team Ashborn Entertainment but didn’t have time to finish our game demo. I’m sure we will be ready for next year’s event!
I played an interesting card game called 9 Lives and I won! They gave me stickers and keychains for winning. I will be writing a separate post for this game. P.S. They don’t explode.

I met a lot of friends from the gaming community who were there not only to enjoy but also for work. Some of my friends were there as shoutcasters, booth models, exhibitors and part of the event staff. It’s always nice to see friends on good conventions like this. Also met some famous game streamers there!

Watch my Event Montage on my Youtube Channel:

I am not a gamer, (I blame my motion sickness it sucks) but I play games when I can and I do have a lot of friends from the gaming community and this event is certainly something I’ll be looking forward to for next year. Thank you, Gariath Concepts for inviting me to this event! See you next year at ESGS 2019!

Also... My ESGS 2018 haul (which kinda makes me think if I really was there for the 'gaming' part or the art? HAHA
